- Changing the section name in this way allows useful classification of variant and related equations, even as yet uninvented related ones, to be done using 35Q; 'mathematical physics and other areas' can cover the whole world, in principle, and doesn't reflect what PDE theorists use
- solitons are special types of solution representations: thus 35C

- The Polish Academy of Sciences librarians pointed out that the change to a text for 35Q80 that contradicted the previous one made it difficult for, say, classified collections of books to say what 35Q80 means in a particular case without researching dates of MSC versions. Zbl and MR came to the conclusion that this paradox could be easily avoided by just deleting 35Q80 as old and adding a new slot. This should be 35Q79, rather than the 35Q81 initially suggested, because for many of the 35Q?? classes the final two digits are those of the relevant area of application (62, 68, 70, 74, 82, 85, 86, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94). This has mnemonic value. That's why 35Q80 was changed as it was. 81 is an existing area already covered by available codes in 35Q; applications in it and areas 76 and 78 are already split up in 35Q.
